This environmental policy has been set by the board and it gives guidelines for the environmental work within Cordovan Group AB.
Three starting points
A well thought out policy regarding the environment permeates the whole of the Cordovan Group’s work and it starts from three beliefs:
1. Together with our clients we want to develop communication solutions and also decrease the use of finite resources and minimise the addition of substances which disturb the environment
2. Cordovan Group, and their subsidiary companies, helps their clients market the fact that they carry out environmental work and provide environmental benefits via the products and services that are being marketed.
3. Internal work within the Cordovan Group shall be permeated with a far-sighted regard for the environment and will be carried through at every possible opportunity. We also work actively in cooperation with environmentally aware suppliers.
Management and responsibility
Every employee has a large personal responsibility when it comes to environmental work.
Each subsidiary company’s MD is responsible for continuously monitoring environmental work, by informing and educating staff. They are also responsible for making sure there are routines to deal with ecologically harmful substances and to create a good internal environment.
Cordovan Groups internal environmental work
Cordovan Group and their subsidiary companies do not carry out and kind of polluting according to present law. The group’s activities do effect the environment to a limited extend: partly through office work, partly with journeys and transportation, partly because of client’s productions.
Follow-up and feedback
How the activity affects the environment will be evaluated and continuously supervised for constant improvement. The follow-up will mainly deal with the risk of discharge/spill, generation and management of waste, possibilities for waste sorting and recycling as well as economising energy and resources.
The inner environment
Within the Cordovan Groups activities there is a necessity for computers and other electronic equipments. An important part of the Cordovan Group staff policy is a good working environment, with ergonomically shaped work stations. Negative effect of electronic equipment, noise and dust issues etc, will therefore be limited and as much as possible be removed.
By choosing the right equipment and work methods which create the possibilities to decrease energy consumption mean that these issues weigh just as heavily as all other demands of function.
Effective resource use
A big part of all communication can be done with the help of electronic communication, phone, fax, e-mails etc. All staff members use the electronic network for communication both internally and to clients and suppliers. It decreases the need for paper, dispatches and personal visits.
For contact with clients or others the Cordovan Group and their subsidiary companies offer electronic communication as a natural feature. Business trips should be planned effectively and from an environmental perspective.
If there is a possibility to share cars, this should be taken advantage of. Possibilities to use video, phone and internet conferences should also be taken advantage of.
Recycling
Waste should be recycled in designated recycling areas. Especially important is paper, packaging, glass and cans, as this accounts for a major part of the total amount of waste.
Decoration, computer - and other electronic equipment - shall also be taken for recycling, if it is not possible to find someone else who is interested in acquiring it.
Consumer material
Consumer material, refill material for copying, printers etc, chemicals for cleaning etc shall be chosen to ensure minimal environmental damage will occur.
Purchases shall be coordinated to concentrate on the use of a few well-functioning products. For these there shall be product information and clear descriptions of the environmental consequences for handling, using and throwing the products.
Environmentally aware suppliers
Cordovan Group and their subsidiary companies will carry out all their client assignments through cooperation with environmentally aware suppliers. That means suppliers who have a documented environmental policy or are certified suitable after appropriate quality and environment checks and use eco-friendly labelled products.
The environment consideration shall always be an equal rights factor when choosing suppliers and other cooperative partners. Supplier’s activities or attitude shall never collide with the Cordovan Group environmental policy.
